Tonight in Paris / Premier Screening of “Cinderela” at the Favela Chic

The Favela Chic Paris invites the public to participate in a premier screening of Magali Magistry’s short film, “Cinderela”, which made the official selection at the Sundance Film Festival.

“Cinderela”, a modern day fairy tale written and directed by promising young filmmaker, Magali Magistry, will be screened in a special one-time presentation at the Favela Chic Paris.  The film will be presented tonight at 8h30 pm, followed by an after party, before taking to the road for a tour of international film festivals around the world.   Appropriately titled, “Cinderela”, the short is an 11 minute romantic adventure that delves into the depths of love and loss.  Set in a nightclub in Rio De Janeiro, this brief but beguiling film explores the passions of Luiza, starring Clara Choveaux, a bartender with a broken heart forced to watched as her ex-lover celebrates his marriage to another woman in the club she works in.  Shot in an underground bar of the Copacabana in Brazil, this romantic tragedy puts a contemporary spin on the classical tale of a woman scorned.

Representing France and Brazil, “Cinderela”, the second film by French filmmaker, Magali Magistry, was shown as part of the official short-film selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival“Cinderela” has also been chosen to participate in numerous festivals, including the National Short Film Competition at the 25th Cabourg Film Festival to be held in Cabourg, France on June 15-19, 2011, as well as the International Short Film Competition of the Brooklyn Film Festival in Brooklyn, USA on June 3-12, 2011.

Magali Magistry, a French born philosopher, artist and filmmaker is rapidly making a name for herself on the avant-garde scene with a series of exhibitions and happenings that bring a bit of world culture to the Parisian art scene.  Combining her passions for art and film, Magali recently co-founded the brand new contemporary art gallery in Paris, known as La Découpe, with highly respected art director Kenza Amrouk, who formerly curated exhibitions as director of the Chantal Crousel Gallery in Paris.  Together, Magali and Kenza seek to broaden the reigns of contemporary culture by blending the different facets of artistic creation, ultimately challenging the artists to view their work in new ways.
