Deauville / Where to Eat
France is famous for its culinary prowess and Deauville is no stranger to gastronomic restaurants, trendy cantines and local seafood haunts that will satisfy almost any hunger. Though the prices remain high, the choices are endless. Choose from an award winning meal at the luxurious Royal Barrière Hotel, try a taste of the local savors with a trip to the trendiest French cantine in town or sample the seafood in the relaxed atmosphere aboard a floating restaurant on the dock.
The mythical restaurant of the Royal Barrière Hotel, L’Etrier, is a Michelin starred dining room heralded by chef Eric Provost. The red and purple decor exemplifies the regal setting of this gastronomic feast. Having studied with both Alain Ducasse and Joel Robuchon, Eric Provost offers a sophisticated cuisine using only the finest, freshest local ingredients to invent incredibly delicious dishes. For a taste, try the Daily Savour Menu (Menu Saveur du Jour) at €57 (without drinks) or the Tasting Menu (Menu Dégustation) at €105 (without drinks).

The two youngs chefs from L’Essentiel, Charles and Mi-ra, earned themselves the Talents of the Year award from Gault & Millau in 2009, exactly one year after they opened their restaurant in the ritzy resort town of Deauville. The atmosphere is chic and trendy, with a seasonal Asian/French cuisine in one of the friendliest places in town. The menu may take you by surprise as it features a Roast Pigeon with turnip purée, a Grilled Canette with a pepper condiment and an Iberian Pluma with sautéed artichokes, but the savory sensations are well worth the culinary risk.
